Belief in Allah

Tawheed is the Oneness of Allaah in His Lordship, Worship, and Names and Attributes:

“Know that Tawheed in the unrestricted sense, is the knowledge and the acknowledgement, that the Lord Allaah, is singled out with all the attributes of Perfection. And it is to affirm that He is singled out with all the Attributes of Greatness and Majesty. And it is to single Him out alone with all worship."

Belief in Allah in Islam consists of four matters:

  1.  Belief in Allah's existence.
  2.  Allah is the Supreme Lord Arrabb
  3.  Allah Alone is entitled to worship AL'ILah
  4.  Allah is known by His Most Beautiful Names and Attributes Asmaa wa Saffat

The 5 Pillars of Islam

The Five Pillars of Islam refer to the five duties that every Muslim must perform. The first of these five pillars is the declaration of faith and the other four are religious acts that are performed either daily, once a year or at least once in a lifetime. These acts are woven into the lives of Muslims and take precedence over all worldly matters.

The Five Pillars of Islam are:
  1. Declaration of Faith (Shahadah)
  2. Prayer (Salah)
  3. Charity (Zakah)
  4. Fasting (Sawm)
  5. Pilgrimage (Hajj)

Du'a Sayyid el-istifgfaar دعاء سيد الاستغفار

The du'a is known as the Sayyid el-Istighfar and is the most superior way of asking for forgiveness from Allah.

Whoever says it during the day with firm faith in it, and dies on the same day before the evening, he will be from the people of Paradise; and if somebody recites it at night with firm faith in it, and dies before the morning, he will be from the people of Paradise.
[Sahih al-Bukhari 8, 75 #318]

DUA
------

Wisdom Behind Prophets Being Shepherds

The first profession of rasool Allahu sal Allahu ‘alayhi wa sallam was shepherding. In Bukhari, rasool Allah sal Allahu ‘alayhi wa sallam says “Allah has not sent a prophet that was not a shepherd’.
Every Prophet has been a shepherd.

There are many lessons to be learned from being a shepherd:

1) Responsibility

2) Patience: when you take the sheep out to graze, they are slow and they take their time. You have to be patient with these animals and bear with them.
Ex: Now look at what Musa ‘alayhi salaam had to go through with Bani Israel. Musa was a shepherd longer than any other Prophet. If you look at al the ambiyaa’, they all had so much patience with their people.

3) Protection: The shepherd protects the flock. The shepherd needs to consistently make sure that no danger (wolves, beats, etc) affects the flock.

4) The first to notice danger: The sheep are smaller and short sighted, therefore they cannot see the far view and the danger that approaches them the way the shepherd, standing tall, sees it.
That’s what the ambiyaa’ of Allah ta’Ala did. They sensed and warned about the dangers that were approaching their people. They had the longest view and a vantage point that none of us have.

5) Simplicity: As a shepherd you can’t bring your accessories with you while doing your work in the desert. A shepherd has to live a simple life.

6) Closeness to its Creator: It pulls you out of the artificial world, close to nature.

Surat AlKahf [Verse 28]

And keep yourself patient [by being] with those who call upon their Lord in the morning and the evening, seeking His face, And let not your eyes pass beyond them, desiring adornments of the worldly life, and do not obey one whose heart We have made heedless of Our remembrance and who follows his desire and whose affair is ever [in] neglect [18:28]

The 4 characteristics of pioneer leaders (sahabas who lead a straight path) include:
1) Patience
2) Supplication
3) Sincerity
4) Steadfastness and firmness upon the truth

Patience

Patience is broken down into 2 types:
1) Shari'ah: commands in law of Islam
2) Decree: Calamities, trials, sorrow, loss, and etc..

"And certainly, We shall test you with something of fear, hunger, loss of wealth, lives and fruits, but give glad tidings to As-Sabirun (the patient)". - (Surah Baqarah V155)

"Only those who are patient shall receive their reward in full, without reckoning.'' - (Surah Al Zumar V 10)

Announcement!

Narrated Ibn 'Umar: Allah's Apostle said, "When the people of Paradise have entered Paradise and the people of the Fire have entered the Fire, death will be brought and will be placed between the Fire and Paradise, and then it will be slaughtered, and a call will be made (that), 'O people of Paradise, no more death ! O people of the Fire, no more death ! ' So the people of Paradise will have happiness added to their previous happiness, and the people of the Fire will have sorrow added to their previous sorrow."
